It all began with two gentlemen more than 100 years ago. In 1896, W.H. Lawrence manufactured the first consumer battery to power home telephones. The battery weighed three pounds! Two years later, a Russian immigrant, Conrad Hubert was using these batteries to power his novelty item-an electric hand torch, aka, the first flashlight. The two got together in 1905 to form what is now Energizer Battery-one of the world's largest manufacturers of batteries and flashlights.
